Bio:
Prof. Nigel ROLLINS is a trained pediatrician who was the head of the Center for Maternal and Child Health at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa for 14 years where his work focused on diarrheal disease, malnutrition and HIV. Then, he joined ion 2008 the WHO’s Department of Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health where he served as scientist up until 2024. He is now Professor in Gobal Health at Queen’s University Belfast and has been awarded a Bordeaux University Visiting Scholarship position at ISPED and GHiGS/BPH in 2025-26. Prof. ROLLINS has lead several multi-centered trials studying antiretroviral drugs and postnatal transmission of HIV and implemented programs that prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission through infant feeding His work also includes facilitating implementation research by building intervention programs and measuring their benefits to children, their mothers, and their families. He also currently serves in the WHO ethics review committee.
